Winners of the Southern Illinois Reading Council short story contest - Madalyn Perez (1st place), Elliot Poulos (3rd place).
The SIRC contest was among the lower 15 counties from 2-8th grade and a banquet was held last Thursday at the Carbondale Civic Center for all winners. Madalyn and Elliott were both in attendance to accept their awards and gift certificates. District 37 has some fantastic teachers who have been instrumental in the development of emerging writers, Madalyn Perez and Elliott Poulos.
