Today, our students will have the opportunity to have Bison Chilli again since it was such a big hit last time. Thanks to Bison Bluff Farms and the Local Foods for School Grant. Thanks to the Local Foods for School Grant, we have provided fresh local food for our students these past two years. Unfortunately, I was informed this morning that the USDA will cut funding for this program for the next school year. We will utilize the remaining funds this year for fresh fruit and local beef ( For Italian beef one day). I will begin searching for other opportunities to continue offering great local food to our students.

District 37 parents and guardians. This message is to inform you that all District 37 schools went on an external lock down for approximately 1 hour this morning, while the police searched for a person of interest. There was no immediate threat to either of the schools. This was done as a precautionary measure only. The suspect was quickly apprehended, and is now in custody. Thank you to the Anna PD for their quick response.

6th Grade Parents and Guardians This message is to notify you that 6th grade teacher, Melissa Thompson, will no longer be teaching at Anna Jr. High. Mrs. Thompson is voluntarily leaving to pursue an opportunity with her family, and will not be able to finish the school year. Taking her place for the remainder of the school year will be Mrs. Rebecca Yates. Mrs. Yates currently serves District 37 as a behavior interventionist; however, prior to this, she was one of our 6th grade teachers. This being the case, she knows the 6th grade students and their curriculum well. Mrs. Thompson will be missed, but I am confident that this change will not affect students negatively in any way. It will take a little to transition, but the fact that Mrs. Yates already works here, has taught in the position already, and the students already know her, should make this a very smooth transition for the students. Mrs. Yates will assume her classroom duties on Monday, March 10th. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at your convenience.
