6th Grade Parents and Guardians
This message is to notify you that 6th grade teacher, Melissa Thompson, will no longer be teaching at Anna Jr. High. Mrs. Thompson is voluntarily leaving to pursue an opportunity with her family, and will not be able to finish the school year. Taking her place for the remainder of the school year will be Mrs. Rebecca Yates. Mrs. Yates currently serves District 37 as a behavior interventionist; however, prior to this, she was one of our 6th grade teachers. This being the case, she knows the 6th grade students and their curriculum well. Mrs. Thompson will be missed, but I am confident that this change will not affect students negatively in any way. It will take a little to transition, but the fact that Mrs. Yates already works here, has taught in the position already, and the students already know her, should make this a very smooth transition for the students. Mrs. Yates will assume her classroom duties on Monday, March 10th. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at your convenience.

This week is Read Across America week at Lincoln School. Students and staff are participating in dress up days and doing special literacy activities in their classrooms.

District 37 parents and guardians. The new security measures at Davie and the Jr. High are going well. We want to thank students and parents for their patience and cooperation in this. A few things we have noticed that would make the process a little more efficient are: (1) please have lunch boxes out of backpack, (2) have pockets empty and backpack off before you get to the metal detector, (3) leave unnecessary items at home, (4) only clear water bottles are allowed. It is unfortunate that we feel we have to do these things, but we are very proud of how our students have adapted so quickly to this, and ultimately just want to keep everyone safe. Again, thank you for your understanding and cooperation, and entrusting us to work with your children.

The 4th, 5th, and 6th grade girls basketball practice has been cancelled for tonight Tuesday, February 11.
